Engine Idling Action Day

anti idling day

Clapham Common

Vehicle Idling Action is a London-wide behaviour change campaign which is helping to reduce localised air pollution caused by motorists who leave their engines running when parked.

Our approach is to invite drivers to join our campaign and switch off their engines when parked to help improve local air quality. When approached in a friendly and non-judgemental way, we find that around 75% of drivers switch off when asked by our volunteers, and many pledge to give up the idling habit for good.

There will be an Idling Action event in Lambeth on 29th March from noon until 2pm in Clapham. Volunteers should meet next to the fountain near the paddling pool on the common by The Pavement.

We are currently recruiting a team of enthusiastic volunteers who want to be part of this innovative education and behaviour change campaign to reduce localised air pollution and improve air quality in their residential and workplace community.

If you want to be a Vehicle Idling Action Champion in Lambeth please fill in the form on the Volunteers page of this website.

Please note: all volunteers must also attend one of our training sessions prior to the Action Day. Please get in touch if you have not been able to attend a training session but would like to come to an Action Event.
