After its first year of unprecedented success, TEDxClapham will be returning to the Clapham Omnibus for its second year on the 18th June 2016. The theme, ‘The Great Unknown’, will see a host of speakers take the audience on a journey of exploration and discovery.

Speakers at the event include Steven D’Souza, an international executive educator, adviser and best-selling author who helps some of the world’s leading business schools and corporations to design transformational learning interventions. Luke Robert Mason, a science communicator and Director of Virtual Futures will be discussing his work and asking the audience to re-address the potential of looking at their future through a techno-philosophical lens. Journalist, author and broadcaster Daisy Buchanan will be discussing her work with some of the UK’s most esteemed newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Sunday Times and Grazia.

TEDxClapham aims to bring the local community together for a day of inspirational and knowledgeable talks about the world around us. TEDxClapham curator Alex Merry says “We’re creatures of habit but we crave the knowledge and progression that you get from embracing the unknown. Put simply when you don’t embrace the unknown, growth stops”. The event is designed to get people talking and asking tough questions about ‘The Great Unknown’ and our future.

TED is a non-profit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
