Three Clapham businesses shortlisted

Pigs Head, Clapham Makers Market & The Bread and Roses – nominated for Be Lambeth Awards

Congratulations to not one, not two but three Clapham businesses, we couldn’t be prouder. I’m sure we will all be keeping our fingers crossed that their nomination for a Be Lambeth Awards turns into a win. Results to be announced on the 30th September we will be sure to let you know how they get on.

The BeLambeth Awards are where Lambeth’s vibrant communities take centre stage! Organised by White Label Creative on behalf of Lambeth Council, these awards are a celebration of the borough’s triumphs and a showcase of Lambeth’s extraordinary people and businesses, highlighting the brilliant contributions they make to the shared prosperity. From innovative start-ups to established enterprises, and individuals of all ages and backgrounds, everyone is welcome to be a part of this inspiring celebration of Lambeth’s spirit and success.

We spoke to our three Shortlisted businesses about their nominations and what this means to them and their team.

Maria Hunter owner of The Pigs Head in Clapham Old Town have been nominated for The Sustainable Impact Award.

Getting shortlisted for the Sustainable Impact Award is a real honour.

We’re thrilled to have our efforts in sustainability recognised, especially alongside so many other fantastic businesses in Clapham.

This acknowledgement strengthens our resolve to keep driving forward with innovative, eco-friendly practices.

As a small, independent business operating from a single site, we’re proud to demonstrate that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand. We hope to inspire others to adopt more sustainable business models, proving that positive environmental impact is achievable for businesses of any size. “

In the the Creative & Digital Industries Award we have two candidates shortlisted! The popular Clapham Makers Market founded by Deborah Mc Kenzie.

I started the Clapham makers market in 2021 to provide a platform for local creatives to make connections, showcase & sell their work.

I also wanted to add a creative event to the Clapham community as there wasn’t anything similar happening nearby.

One of the best aspects of the Clapham makers market is the way it brings people together & provides an opportunity for creatives to connect and local residents to meet the artists & makers & and buy unique and sustainable products.

I’m very excited to be shortlisted for a BeLambeth Award and hope to continue to grow & develop the market going forward.

In the same category we have The Bread and Roses, we spoke to Velenzia & Rebecca, Co-Directors of The Lambeth Fringe and The Bread & Roses Theatre.

“We are incredibly honoured to be shortlisted for the BeLambeth Awards, especially in such a milestone year for us. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Bread & Roses Theatre and seeing The Lambeth Fringe grow to include 150 shows across 23 venues in the borough has been a tremendous achievement for our small, unfunded company. Our mission has always been to create space for artists and to shape the future of performance by providing opportunities for diverse voices. This recognition is not only a testament to our hard work but also to the thriving artistic community we are so proud to support.”

We wish all three the best of luck in their categories and are extremely proud of what they have achieved in putting their business on the map!
